Between June and September every village in Malta and Gozo holds its main event of the year – the village festa, a blend of folklore and religion in honour of the patron saint.
Your guide will take you round the parish church which is lavishly decorated for this annual event. Organised by the inhabitants of the village as a communal celebration of colour, light and sound, the festa now attracts thousands of people from all over the island. The climax of the festa is reached with a stunning display of fireworks, bringing to an end a full week of boisterous festivities. The streets of the village, decked in banners, lights and statues, offer a unique spectacle to the large crowds that pack the main square. The village festa offers you a unique opportunity to meet and mix with the locals who are only too happy to share with you the highlight of their year.
